Healthy Habits

 Living a healthy lifestyle shouldn't be a lot of work or add extra stress to your daily life.  Making small changes can be much easier than making too many drastic changes at one time.  Here are some things that can help you be healthier.

1.  Avoid or limit processed foods.  Try and eat fresh foods and if you do eat packaged foods eat ones that have limited ingredients.  You can use the Yuka app to scan products and this app will rate the product from excellent to bad.  This app takes into consideration the amount of sodium, sugar, fat, fiber,  and additives products have. 

2.  Get enough sleep.  Sleep is incredibly important to your overall health.  If you are not sleeping good you should try some natural supplements to help or lifestyle changes that could help.  If you can fall asleep fast but you wake up several hours later and can't go back to sleep then you could try Tranquil Sleep by Natural Factors.  They also make a product called PhamaGaba and I use this if I have trouble falling asleep because I have a lot on my mind.  Some other products to try are

Lifestyle changes to help you fall asleep include reducing stress in your life, ensure your room is dark, reduce the use of electronics close to bedtime, or try a sound machine.

3.  Stay Hydrated.  Staying hydrated will ensure you body is functioning properly and your blood volume is sufficient.  It is important to drink throughout the day rather than consuming large amounts at one time.  This will ensure your body can properly absorb the water.  Drink water for hydration and don't drink sugary drinks.  It is also important to avoid energy drinks as these can stress your adrenal gland and lead to adrenal fatigue.  

4. Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables and get enough fiber.  Fruits and vegetables are full of antioxidants and super important for your health and longevity.  A lot of people never think about how

much fiber they are consuming but it is also important.  

5.  Ensure you have a healthy gut.  Gut health is so important to your overall health!  You can improve your guy health just by limiting sugary and processed foods.  If your gut health isn't good then you probably are not absorbing your nutrients and this can lead to deficiencies.  Taking a probiotic and getting enough fiber can help with gut health.  

6.  Get moving with a combination of cardiovascular exercise and strength training.  It is important to have a balanced approach to fitness.  Being more active is important for overall health.  

7.  Reduce Stress.  Stress is very harmful for your body.  Stress can add extra fat around your mid-section because it increases your cortisol levels.  It can also disrupt your sleep and that can lead to other problems.  

8.  Avoid or limit alcohol.  Excessive alcohol consumption can cause inflammation, dehydration and a lot of other problems.  Limit or avoid alcohol to improve your health.
