Healthy Habits For A Healthy Lifestyle
Small changes in your lifestyle habits can lead to big results. It takes patience when beginning a new routine but eventually it will get easier and become something you just do and don't even have to think about it. Here are a few changes that you can make to lead to a healthier lifestyle.
- It is proven that people who exercise in the morning are more likely to stick to an exercise routine. It's usually the first few weeks of getting up early that is the hardest. If you can start with 2 early workouts a week this might be easier to get into a routine. This way you give yourself a few days a week to sleep in a little later and thats something to look forward to. Eventually you can add more early morning days if you want but starting with 2 is a great goal and a good way to make it stick and become a habit. Get things ready the night before to make it easier to get up and get out the door.
- Get an exercise partner - this will help you with accountability especially if you have to meet this person for a workout. Workouts with a partner can be more enjoyable and fun!
- Eat more vegetables - think about adding more vegetables into your diet. Vegetables are so good for you and have so many nutrients that will help with your endurance and aid in recovery. Find vegetables that you enjoy eating and find new healthy recipes that will help you enjoy eating them.
- Prepare foods at home more and go out less. Nowadays it's so easy to have healthy foods at your house. So many stores (even WholeFoods) provide pick-up services at the store or home delivery. Your shopping can be done online then you can have it delivered to your home and in many cases it's very inexpensive or FREE! Take time at the beginning of the week to prepare a few good meals that you can eat for several days. Using things like the instapot will help you with your meal prep. You can always do your meal prep on a rest day from exercise when you might have more time. Take time to research new recipes and have fun trying new things.
- Make breakfast your healthiest meal of the day! Many people skip breakfast because they are in a rush to get to work. Breakfast should be your healthiest meal of the day so you can start your day right. This is especially important if you're exercising in the morning because that post-workout meal is very important. It should be balanced between complex carbohydrates and protein and don't forget your veggies!
- Getting adequate sleep is essential for good health. Try and get to bed at the same time each night and make sure you're getting quality sleep. If you are having a hard time sleeping look into alternative remedies.
- Move, Move, Move - sure you move by exercising but then you go to work and sit all day. Does that sound familiar? If you have a job that you sit at then get up throughout the day and move.
Be patience and give yourself time for each new habit to become something you naturally do,and don't even have to think about. It takes time for your body to realize its a new habit but when it does its like clockwork!
